Accelerated Reader

Welcome to the AR program! Accelerated Reader is an incredible resource to provide your child with necessary essential reading practice. AR does this both in a FUN and EFFECTIVE way! Our AR Program starts this Monday, September 15^th and will run until May 15th. To participate in AR, students will choose an AR book from the library or from home, read it, and then take a comprehension quiz “independently” on a computer at school. Go to www.arbookfind.com to see if your book is on the list. Easy as that! Students this year can look forward to a variety of incentives including:

· AR store every 12 weeks

· Top reader recognition each 6 weeks

· A traveling trophy (moves every 6 weeks to the class with the most AR points)

· End of year medal if you double your AR points

· A student from each grade with the most AR points will get

a trophy at the end of the year

· The class with the most AR points gets an end of year popsicle party

End of year point goal

2^nd grade : 40 pts. 4^th grade : 50 pts.

3^rd grade : 45 pts. 5^th grade : 55 pts.

Students are allowed to take AR quizzes each day in their classroom and before school from 7:30am-7:50am in our school library. Late afternoon in the library is offered once a month, see school calendar for details. Parents…please remember the quizzes are to be completed independently.
